Fundamentals of Fabric Construction Products
(FCP 302)

Students will explore hands on fashion, interior and product fabrications and their product end uses for specific retail markets. Students will explore material specifications; how colour and fabrics are selected, sizing of materials and costing. The life cycle of products will be analyzed. The relationship between materials is to be explored; woven, non-woven fabrics and fibers and their unique characteristics. This courses also guides a student towards general fabric finishing’s; how products are stitched, constructed and their overall care and maintenance. Samples of material fabrics and swatches will be covered and researched. Material suitability and sustainability are considered and how materials are selected accordingly to specific products.
